A parade of pedigree vintage vehicles will form the grand finale of the Segrave landspeed record 90th anniversary celebrations.
Thirty six best of kind cars, dating from as early as 1910, will join a concours d'elegance at Kings Gardens from 10.30am. At 2.30pm, there will be a grand parade down Lord Street.
The very oldest cars include two Sunbeam touring cars, from 1910 and 1913 and a 1928 Bentley.
At the younger end of the scale, there will be a 1971 yellow Fiat 500, an import from Italy (answers to the name of Gino) and a 1975 Jeepney Saturn, which was handbuilt out of stainless steel in the Philippines.
Other 60s and 70s favourites include a 1965 Ford Mustang, a 1974 Jaguar E-type Roadster and a 1970 Mini Cooper, which has had the same loving owner for 41 years.
Emma Anderson, director, The Atkinson, said: "The Atkinson has been at the heart of this week of events because we are passionate about Southport and Sefton’s
heritage.
"Our museum collections tell stories about 'the lure of speed', as Sir Henry Segrave described it. They celebrate the achievements of women and men, at a time when Southport and its sands were the focus for technical innovation, ambition, as well as a certain glamour."
